Established in 2005 out of our Broadstairs location, we now have a chain of 7 beautiful nurseries located all around Kent. Our nurseries value kindness, care, happiness, inclusivity, and most importantly, fun!
While we ensure that your little one feels part of the family and thoroughly enjoys their time at nursery with us, we also support their long-term development through our extensive range of educational and exploratory activities.
Your baby’s care
Our Baby rooms
We believe that children learn best when their interests are highlighted and they are respected as being different from adults. With the first 6 years of a child’s life being the most important period for learning and development, we like to enhance and make the most of this opportunity, teaching them traits, manners, and lessons that they will take with them throughout their lives. This approach is based on the Montessori Approach, originally established by Maria Montessori. This is where our name originates, built from the foundations of ours and Maria’s philosophies about childcare. Find out more about Maria Montessori here.
Creative play is an important part of a child’s development as it allows their minds, creativity, and imagination to grow. This is why we incorporate it into our babies’ routine on a daily basis. The babies love to engage in creative play using malleable materials, sand and water play, texture experimentation, sensory development equipment, and mark making. Our wonderful staff also plan lots of fun and exciting activities for our babies, based on their individual interests and needs.
Every baby room at Townsend Montessori Nurseries has a separate sleeping room in which cots and beds are placed, enabling our babies to nap in a calm, quiet, and safe environment. Sleeping babies are checked every 10 minutes by staff to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Additionally, changing stations are situated around the nursery, allowing easy and private changing of your baby as efficiently (and as mess-free) as possible.
Meals and snacks
The nursery provides healthy and nutritious cooked meals, along with healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day. Your baby’s routines from home and specific preferences are recognised and mirrored in the nursery setting, to provide continuity of care and as little disruption to your baby’s lifestyle as possible. Staff also liaise closely with the babies’ parents, recognising them as the child’s first and most important educator, and ensuring a successful partnership is formed between baby, staff, and parent.
Every baby has a daily diary in which their day at nursery is recorded. This is so you, as their parent or caregiver, will receive an insight into your baby’s day, which includes information such as what they have eaten, how long they have slept, nappy changes, and the activities they have been doing. Each baby also has a folder which documents their progress and development through observations and reports. Of course, staff are always available for chats and are more than happy to give you feedback about your baby’s day.
When your baby is ready to move up to the next age group – which may even involve a change of scenery within a whole new room – they will visit with their key person who will help settle them into their new environment. Find out more about our key person system here.
