Townsend Montessori is a privately owned group of 7 nurseries. We have a strong emphasis on beautiful environments, high-quality care and outstanding teaching.
We have been operating since 2005 and benefit from years of experience over multiple sites, meaning our staff have the best support available whenever they need it. Our staff are highly qualified, DBS checked, trained in paediatric first aid, and receive regular refresher training courses.
All of our nurseries are rated ‘Good’ or above by Ofsted. We offer a variety of different sessions to cater for every family’s needs and take babies from 3mths old up to children aged 5. We also offer free places for 2-5-year-olds. We are open all year round Monday to Friday and offer Full Days or sessional Care.

Some more about us
Wonderful, qualified, and caring staff
We have a large family ethos here at Townsend Montessori Nurseries, with all of our staff more than happy to support and help each other whenever they need.
Our Nursery Managers and staff are able to support each other and share ideas within their individual nursery, providing the best expertise and care possible.
Our Area Managers are there to support nursery staff and nursery managers in developing the nurseries and maintaining them to a high standard.
Our operations manager and CEO ensure the smooth running of the nurseries and are there to support the full team of staff to be the best they can possibly be.
A strong and supportive head office
Our wonderful head office team support the nursery managers by taking away admin jobs, allowing them to focus on the care of the children and the quality of the nurseries.
Being a chain allows us to have staff dedicated to special educational needs, behaviour management, child protection, human resources and staff training. This means we can look after your little one in the best way possible, no matter what.
Run by parents, for parents
Our business is built on family, our Founder, Philippa, setting the business up as a mother of two. As a mum herself, Philippa knows how important childcare is for parents and especially for children and their development. Many of our staff are also parents, meaning our nurseries are perfectly equipped with the expertise to care for your little one in the best way to nurture their learning and development.
Regular staff training
Extra training courses can be accessed with ease and we encourage our staff to regularly update their knowledge and expertise. As we have the large number of staff to share the group training costs, this makes regular training sessions a lot easier to maintain.
Being a large group of nurseries ensures that a professional approach is undertaken in all aspects of the running of the nurseries.
Easy access to resources
Being part of a chain ensures that more funds are available for resources and the maintenance of nursery buildings, resulting in a high-quality service being offered.
We value play and outdoor activities: There is nothing more important for a child’s development than fun and outdoor play. This is why at every nursery location we have large gardens with lots of fun things for the children to explore and play with.
