Settling in sessions

We aim for children to feel safe, stimulated, and happy within the nursery and to feel secure and comfortable with all staff, especially their key person. We are always more than happy to support parents and carers to help their children settle in quickly and easily by giving consideration to the individual needs and circumstances of each child and their family.

We offer settling in visits, free of charge, carried out over a one-or-two-week period. Children usually require three visits before they can be left to attend a session.

The steps we take to ensure they settle in

The first visit

The first visit is for you and your child to get to know the room and the staff and play together.

The second visit

The second visit is for you to help your child settle into the room, leaving them for half an hour but remaining on the premises just in case they become unsettled. A key person is allocated at this point, who welcomes and looks after your child while you are away.

The third day

The third day is for you to drop your child off for an hour in the room on their own.

Key person

Your little one's key person will ensure that their care is tailored to meet their individual needs. They offer a settled relationship for your child, building a strong relationship with you throughout their time at nursery. This ensures you have a familiar contact to assist with the settling in process and beyond.
