What makes this nursery unique?
About the nursery
Established in 2008, our nursery is conveniently situated on West Cliff Road, just a short stroll from Ramsgate town centre. We are lucky to have a large, wonderful garden area in which the children love to explore and play, with a climbing frame, sand and water play, a planting area, a road for bikes and trikes, and a separate baby garden. Our nursery also benefits from having four large, bright, and fun classrooms, catering to all ages and abilities, in which the children enjoy developing within, stimulating their imaginations and learning.
The children always enjoy taking part in fun and exciting activities and the nursery also offers a number of weekly classes. These sessions include yoga, dance, football, and singing carried out by professionals. All of our dedicated and friendly staff are committed to providing only the best care possible for your little one, partaking in regular training sessions to update and expand their knowledge. As standard, every staff member is trained in paediatric first aid as well as food hygiene. They all hold a childcare qualification or are working towards achieving one.
We were rated “Good” in all areas by Ofsted, with outstanding elements. The nursery and staff team are now working towards achieving Outstanding in all areas.
“Children are well prepared for their next stage in learning and develop the skills they need to be ready to start school. For example, children confidently manage their personal care needs, interact well with each other and are motivated learners.” – Ofsted
Highly qualified staff
We have a dedicated Montessori Teacher and Qualified Teacher that carries out individual and small group activities with the children. All of our staff are qualified in childcare from NVQ 2 up to Degree level and beyond.

We have a parent pick-up and drop-off area at the front of the nursery for your convenience, as well as excellent transport links from our town centre location, with a bus stop right outside the nursery!
Our large garden allows the children to develop their imaginations and feed their curiosity. With lots of fun and exciting things to see and do, the children love running wild and playing with their friends.
As part of a group of nurseries, we have a dedicated network of support and expertise which is shared across all of our locations. In addition, being a family owned business ensures that there is a loving and caring family ethos to all of our nurseries.
Extra curricular activities
We have a team of professionals that carry out our selection of extra curricular activities on a weekly basis. These include:
- Multi sports
My twin girls have been going to the Ramsgate nursery for 5 months and they love it. They enjoy playing out in the large fully fitted garden they have and enjoy baby yoga sessions, painting, dressing up, arts & crafts – they do so much! All the girls who work there are lovely, very friendly and always happy to answer my questions. I would highly recommend!
Fab nursery. Both my boys went here. Great staff, great atmosphere.
Mini seahorses room: 3 months – 1 year
Our Mini Seahorses benefit from a cosy, calm, and stimulating room on the first floor, with soft rugs and blankets to create a wonderful and safe environment for the babies to crawl around and explore. Our babies also have a separate sleep room and baby change area, ensuring their comfort and happiness at all times. Sleeping babies and children are always checked every 10 minutes by a member of staff.
Seahorses room: 1 – 2 years
Our Seahorses are located on the first floor, in a large room with a play frame, ball pit, and role play area, so they can play, explore, and develop their imaginations. The room has large windows that allow lots of natural daylight to flood into the room, creating a warm, bright, and inviting environment for them to toddle around in. Our toddlers have a separate room in which they eat their meals and carry out messy play activities.
Turtles room: 2 – 3 years
Our Turtles have beautiful large windows, letting lots of natural daylight enter the room, creating a warm and bright atmosphere in which they can learn and play. The classroom is located on the ground floor, next to the pre-schoolers room. With large glass doors between these rooms, this allows the children to observe what is happening in the pre-schoolers class, making their transition from Turtles to Dolphins easier. To help with toilet-training and to encourage independence, a toilet is located nearby.
Dolphins & Seals rooms: 3 – 5 years
Our Dolphins and Seals rooms are made up of our oldest children who are preparing for primary school. With this in mind, the children have wonderful and stimulating environments to learn, develop, and play in. Each room has a Montessori area within the room where they can develop their mathematics and literacy skills. Additionally, they are encouraged to grow their independence in preparation for primary school with a toilet block located near to both classrooms and they both have access to our lovely garden and Forest class daily.
The Ramsgate management team
I started work for Townsend Montessori in 2010 and was based at The Grange as Nursery Nurse which is where I gained my level 3 qualification. I enjoyed working at The Grange and worked my way up from nursery nurse to room leader. My youngest son who is now a teenager also attended The Grange and still has very fond memories of his time here. In 2019 I relocated to our Broadstairs Nursery, Port Regis as room leader of the 2's room and then was asked to become deputy manager. I then moved back to The Grange as deputy manager and then was asked to become Manager. I am extremely passionate about providing children with the best experiences in their early education and the importance of giving the best level of care that every parent would want for their child.
I have worked for Townsend Montessori Nurseries for seven years. I began working at the Avenues Montessori after completing my degree in early childhood studies. I progressed from Nursery Nurse to Senior Nursery Nurse, and then to Deputy Supervisor, Supervisor, Deputy Manager/Montessori Directress and now Assistant Manager of the Grange Montessori. Each of these roles has challenged me differently but all have been rewarding. I have always been passionate about working in the early years sector and find it incredibly humbling and rewarding to be a part of the children’s early development. I thoroughly enjoy working for Townsend Montessori as I feel valued and continually supported in my own personal development. I have great appreciation for the Montessori method and how the ethos is embedded within the nurseries.
