What makes this nursery unique?

About the nursery

As our smallest nursery, Margate offers a cosy, homely, environment. The nursery is situated just a short walk from Margate town centre on Cowper Road (off Victoria Road) and has 3 bright, colourful classrooms in which the children can learn, play, and create. We have a large, beautiful garden area with a climbing frame, sand and water play, planting, and a trikes area, allowing the children to explore and play.

We also run a variety of fun weekly activities, carried out by professionals, including, yoga, dance, football and singing. Our dedicated, friendly, and caring team of staff are very well qualified, being trained in paediatric first aid, as well as constantly expanding their knowledge by attending regular training courses.

Our nursery opened in 2012, being rated Good in all areas by Ofsted with Outstanding elements in October 2016;

“All babies and children make good progress in their learning and development. They are active learners who are inquisitive and motivated to learn” – Ofsted

Our smallest nursery

As Margate is our smallest nursery, your child will not only benefit from more individual care, but also a warm and friendly environment that can feel like a second home to them. This ensures that they are learning and developing in the perfect environment whilst also feeling comfortable and cared for.

Highly qualified staff

We have a dedicated Montessori Teacher and Qualified Teacher that carries out individual and small group activities with the children. All of our staff are qualified in childcare from NVQ 2 up to Degree level and beyond.

Our chain

As part of a group of nurseries, we have a dedicated network of support and expertise which is shared across all of our locations. In addition, being a family owned business ensures that there is a loving and caring family ethos to all of our nurseries.

Extra curricular activities

We have a team of professionals that carry out our selection of extra curricular activities on a weekly basis. These include:

  • Tennis
  • Multi-Sports
  • Yoga

Teddy really enjoys seeing the staff and is very eager to come to nursery. His development has come on leaps and bounds. The staff are really pleasant and welcoming.

The Margate management team

Nursery Manager
Terri Elliot

I have been working with Townsend Montessori Nursery since 2008. I joined as a Nursery Nurse and have worked in many roles leading me up to Nursery Manager. I chose to work in childcare because I am passionate about providing children with the best start in their early education by providing them with a fun and stimulating environment which allows them to thrive in their abilities. I have two young children which has given me a great understanding of what parents are looking for and Townsend Montessori Nurseries provides that high-quality level of care for the children, parents and staff and I enjoy being a part of the company.

Staff Member Townsend Montessori Nurseries Assistant Manager
Kirsty Ellice

I have worked with Townsend Montessori nurseries for 7 years. I have had many roles ranging from Nursery Nurse, Deputy room leader, room leader, 3rd in charge and now Deputy manager. I chose to work in early years as it gives me the opportunity to watch children flourish and to grow into small confident adults, by providing them with their basic needs, fun activities and a stimulating environment. I enjoy working and being part of the Townsend Montessori nurseries as they have supported me to progress throughout my career and demonstrate a loving and stimulating environment for the children.
