Forest class

Children love learning and exploring outdoors, and our forest class creates a fun and exciting environment for them to learn about nature and start to use basic tools in a safe and controlled way.

Highly qualified staff

We have a dedicated Montessori Teacher and Qualified Teacher that carries out individual and small group activities with the children. All of our staff are qualified in childcare from NVQ 2 up to Degree level and beyond.

My 7-year-old daughter went to The Avenues Montessori, Northdown Rd, Margate and loved it there; she was so happy. Now my 2-year-old son goes there and also loves it and is happy. The staff are great with my son; I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Wonderful staff and nursery.

Both of my children attend Port Regis and they love it. My youngest loves seeing the animals on his way in. My eldest is always telling me about the fun things she has been up to. Thanks to all the great staff!

Lovely nursery and great staff members!

Gunita Andrejeva

My daughter loves going to nursery. Even at the weekend when we ask what she wants to do she says go to nursery! I am so lucky to have found somewhere she loves and also somewhere I know she is safe and cared for. All the staff are amazing and do such an amazing job at teaching and caring for all the children.

Sam Gardner

My daughter goes to the Maidstone nursery and absolutely loves it. All the staff are lovely, and she has come on leaps and bounds since starting. Couldn't fault it at all!

Hannah Carden
Maidstone

My son was at the Faversham nursery when he was a baby. We then relocated to the Maidstone nursery, and he is now in his last year before primary school. Both nurseries are amazing; he has learned so much and is really independent now and ready for school. Thank you all so much! He loves it!

Squirrels Room: 3 months – 2.5 years

Located upstairs within the building, The Squirrels room has a separate calm, cosy space, dedicated to caring for babies. Within the main room, the children enjoy a bright space, full of exciting toys and activities to allow their minds and imagination to grow. We encourage independence throughout the whole of the nursery even from a young age and this is evident with every child’s play as they shine with confidence.

The room is also equipped with a nappy changing station and a sleep room with cots and small beds, ready for nap time. Sleeping children are checked every 10 minutes by a member of our caring staff and this is all recorded for the end of the session in a contact book.

Hedgehogs Room: 2.5 – 5 years

Our Hedgehogs have a large room with a bright and spacious classroom, located on the ground floor, overlooking the garden. We have a separate Montessori area in which the children are able to have one to one care and teaching with one of our professional Montessori Teachers.

With a door straight into the garden, the children can easily access outdoor play as they wish. They are taken outside to the garden to play twice a day. Our garden is separated into four areas, the forest class, the baby garden, the main garden, and a sheltered area directly connected to the Hedgehogs Room.

The classroom also has a toilet block, with low level sinks to encourage and develop the children’s independence.

The Herne Bay management team

Nursery Manager
Tasha Clarke

I have worked for Townsend Montessori Nurseries for around 13 years, starting my journey at Port Regis, as a nursery nurse in the Twos Room, before becoming a Deputy Supervisor in the Babies Room. After a year or so, I became Supervisor of their very successful Babies Room, then Deputy Manager of the nursery. Not long after, I was asked to become Manager. Eventually, I was asked to open a brand-new nursery in Maidstone, where I spent a year building the nursery up, and shortly went on to have my own baby. After taking a year out, I decided that I would like to return to work and am now Manager of the Herne Bay nursery. I like working for Townsend Montessori as it has helped me progress even whilst starting a family. Townsend Montessori have helped me gain experience in every aspect of childcare and in providing a caring, stimulating environment for all children.

Assistant Manager
Beth Cole

I have worked in childcare for over 10 years and have been working for Townsend for just over a year. I started off at the Ramsgate nursery, where I gained a lot of my knowledge, before coming across to Herne Bay. I have always enjoyed working with children and their families and am learning new parts to my role each day.
