What makes this nursery unique?
About the nursery
Our nursery in Broadstairs opened in 2005 and is located near the North Foreland Golf Course. The nursery is adjacent to an old people’s home; the children love visiting the elderly residents, singing songs, and playing games together.
We are very proud to announce that we received overall Good, but graded Outstanding for personal development, behaviour, and welfare in a recent Ofsted inspection;
“Staff are inspirational role models, children are extremely polite and their behaviour is impeccable. Children have outstanding opportunities to challenge their physical abilities.” – Ofsted
Our forest class
Our forest class in Broadstairs is a new addition to the nursery. Children love learning and exploring outdoors, and our forest class creates a fun and exciting environment for them to learn about nature and start to use basic tools in a safe and controlled way.
The children love exploring the farm and helping feed our many ducks chickens! We are all currently very excited about the new piglets who are joining our farm shortly!
The nursery opens out onto the beach! Just a short walk out of our nursery’s doors, the beach is easily accessible and especially fun in the summer months. The children love playing in the sun and sand.
Highly qualified staff
We have a dedicated Montessori Teacher and Qualified Teacher that carries out individual and small group activities with the children. All of our staff are qualified in childcare from NVQ 2 up to Degree level and beyond.

As part of a group of nurseries, we have a dedicated network of support and expertise which is shared across all of our locations. In addition, being a family owned business ensures that there is a loving and caring family ethos to all of our nurseries.
Extra Curricular Activities
We have a team of professionals that carry out our selection of extra curricular activities on a weekly basis. These include:
- Multi sports
Baby Room: 3 months – 2 years
Our beautiful Baby Room is located upstairs in a bright, airy room. Very young babies are cared for in a separate room which has been carefully designed to be a stimulating home from home environment. Older babies are cared for in a larger room equipped with fun and exciting toys and activities. Babies are taken out to explore the grounds or play in the separate baby garden twice a day.
Twos room: 2 – 3 years
Our Twos Room is located on the ground floor. It has a separate kitchen and sleep room to help follow the children’s routines. Staff plan fun and exciting activities for the children depending on their interests and needs. There is a cosy reading area for quiet time, as well as role play, art and messy play. The children are taken outside to play twice a day.
Pre-school room: 3 – 5 years
We have two beautiful Pre-school rooms and children love exploring the Montessori equipment and learning on a one-to-one basis, along with group activities. In addition to a free-flow garden, the children visit the forest class, playground and farm on a regular basis.
The Broadstairs management team
I have been working in childcare for many years and hold a First Class in BA (Hons) Childhood Studies Degree. I have a genuine passion for learning about the holistic development, education and experiences of children. I have gained a strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), holistic child development and the inner workings of a range of childcare settings. I pride myself on having a natural affinity to help children feel comfortable, happy and confident in their play, which I look forward to developing further at Townsend. I feel passionate about assisting parents in laying a solid early years foundation for their children and am committed to my vision of making our setting feel like a safe haven, with a strong sense of community for all, by enhancing our friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
I have worked for Townsend Montessori for many years and have worked my way up to assistant manager position. I enjoy my work and love working with the children and seeing their progression.
