Our Toddler rooms are designed to allow children the maximum potential for activity and learning, two of the most important things at this age.
Each child’s daily routine incorporates activities that encourage creative and physical development, with their progress being documented by staff so parents can see how their child is developing. We operate in accordance with Ofsted guidelines, having a 3:1 ratio of children to staff.
Your toddler’s care
Our toddler rooms
Our toddler rooms are all bright and spacious, with furniture made from natural materials and situated at the perfect height to encourage independence, as it allows them to choose whichever toys and activities they want from the shelves. Each room has a playhouse with a slide, tunnel, and slope, as well as ride on toys and many more fun activities that allow children to develop their movement skills. These activities are all created to help in the development of imagination, creativity, and independence.
Some of the wonderful activities our toddlers can partake in include messy play, outdoor play, bikes and trikes, arts and crafts, role play, puzzles, reading, and creative play using malleable materials, sand and water play, texture experimentation, sensory development equipment, and mark making. These activities are all created to help in the development of imagination, creativity, and independence.
As well as having fun, toddlers need lots of care and attention still. This is why our toddler rooms include a dedicated sleep room and changing station, with sleeping children being checked every 10 minutes by a member of staff.
Meals and nutrition
Townsend Montessori Nurseries provide healthy and nutritious cooked meals for your child, along with healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day. Your child will be encouraged to feed themselves and begin to learn table manners, with as much support from staff as they require.
Your toddler’s day will be recorded in detail and you are more than welcome to read the notes. We document what your child has eaten, how long they have slept for, their nappy changes, and the activities they have taken part in. Your child’s key member of staff will also document observations and reports on your child’s progress and development. Our wonderful staff are always happy and available to talk to you about your child’s day and give you feedback – just ask!
When your child is nearly old enough to move up into the next age group – which in some cases will mean a whole new classroom – we will organise visits with their key person who will help make their transition as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.
