Our pre-schoolers experience a fun-packed, happy environment, full of friends in which they can express and be themselves. These classrooms are full of interesting and exciting things to do, but also have the space for your child to take time out from the noise and be quiet and by themselves if they wish.
Whichever your local nursery, you can be assured that your child will learn in a bright and spacious classroom, full of exciting activities based on your child’s needs and interests and preparing them for school life.
Your child’s care
At all of our nursery locations there are separate rooms for pre-schoolers, aged between 3 and 5 years, meaning they get the complete attention, learning, and fun that they need to prepare them for life beyond nursery. Within the room your child will benefit from lots of fun and exciting activities as well as great learning opportunities both academically and for life. They will also have access to a toilet block with low-level sinks and toilets to develop their independence. We believe outdoor play is extremely important to your child’s development, which is why we take them out to play twice a day into our wonderful gardens, allowing them to play outdoors in the fresh air.
Maria Montessori saw that careful preparation of the environment is an essential ingredient for the successful development of children. The layout of each classroom encourages exploration, communication, and the development of relationships on all levels. Everything reflects a dedication to quality, beauty, and to your child’s ability to do things for themselves.
The mixture of foundation stage development goals and Montessori surroundings provides your child with enriched learning experiences within a beautiful environment designed to awaken their senses.
Our wonderful staff apply the Montessori theories within the setting, teaching your child to be in touch with their environment, demonstrating how to do things, and encouraging them to be independent.
We use these Montessori activities to develop your child’s ability to look after themselves and encourage respect for their surroundings and fellow students. It is a core principle of te Montessori approach to always follow your child’s nature. So, whenever your child acts spontaneously and constructively in any way, Montessori methods will follow and help your child along this path, allowing them to be in charge of their own development and life choices.
Our lovely staff implement weekly topics and plans to fill your child’s day with a variety of fun activities that not only engage them but cover the early years’ curriculum. This will give your child a head-start and the very best introduction to their forthcoming school life, meaning they won’t be overwhelmed when the time comes.
Your child will also have the opportunity to take part in lots of amazing extracurricular activities all led by professional teachers weekly, including football, yoga, Dinky Dancers, Music, Singing, and Musical Bumps.
Different activities are offered at different nurseries, so please check your local nursery page to see the fun activities on offer for your little one!
meals and nutrition
In the pre-school rooms, mealtimes are a sociable occasion where your child will be encouraged to serve their own food and feed themselves, giving them more independence. We promote good table manners and polite behaviour by leading by example and praising good behaviour. Your child will be provided with healthy and nutritious cooked meals.
We make and document regular observations of your child, ensuring that they are learning and developing at the best of their ability. Your child will also have their own personal folder in which their progress and development is documented. This information is all easily accessible by parents and our lovely staff are always more than happy to discuss your child’s day and their progress with you!
Preparation for school
From an early age, we have supported your child’s academic development, particularly in core subjects such as mathematics and literacy. By using fun activities and teaching methods specifically tailored to your child, they will have not only taken in lots of information from their surroundings, but also will have learnt lots in their time with us too.
Pre-school is a crucial age at which to teach a child before they head off to primary school. This is why our wonderful nursery staff strive to arm your child with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for their next steps into the school classroom. By the end of their time with us, your child will be completely ready and excited to move into primary school.
